Gary Stanton began putting automobile racing engines together in 1964, and building super-modifieds and sprint cars in 1969. By 1972 he started marketing them professionally under the business name Stanton Racing Products. Stanton partnered with Mopar Performance Parts and, following a year of development in 1995, won two more USAC Silver Crown events and their respective driver and owner point titles with Jimmy Sills in '96. Since then, Gary continues to develop and build race - and championship winning chassis, only for himself, and Mopar engines for Silver Crown, sprint, late model, and midget cars.

The number of stars indicates the number of casting packages purchased by the engine builder. A casting package is a bare block, pair of bare heads and an intake manifold. 1-4 casting packages = 1 star, 5-9 casting packages = 2 star and 10 or more casting packages = 3 stars, The number of stars is not a rating of ability or experience, simply a measurement of casting packages purchased.
