New Chevy Block!

New engine block for Small-Block Chevy: World Products’ launches Motown II, a new cast iron engine block that is also available with bolt pattern for LS cylinder heads and the taller LS deck height.

By 2008 the tooling for World Products’ cast iron engine block for the Small-block Chevrolet needed replacing. It had served them well since the 1990s, but the cost of re-tooling was substantial: $570,000. Since they were obliged to invest so heavily in new tooling, they determined to incorporate every advantage learned during twenty five years of casting engine blocks. And they did.

Product notes:

  • 1. SBC version uses the conventional deck height of 9.025 inches and accepts any 17-bolt small-block Chevy head; the LS version uses the conventional 9.240 deck height and accepts all LS cylinder heads. Available with SBC or LS motor mounts.

  • 2. Weighs approx. 190 lbs. – 75 lbs. lighter than GM’s LSX iron block.

  • 3. Priority-mains lubrication system for better oiling of main bearings, cam bearings and valve lifters.

  • 4. Machined to accept standard small-block Chevy camshaft. Accommodates stronger, larger diameter 55mm camshafts.

  • 5. Camshaft oiling holes moved from the regular 6 o’clock position to 5 o’clock to eliminate potential camshaft oiling troubles that occur under high valve spring loads.

  • 6. Central internal machining location eliminates “stacked tolerances,” a detriment in all high-volume production blocks.

  • 7. Uses standard SBC crank, cam bearings, and ignition.

  • 8. Available in Street, Sportsman, Race series, bare or fully race-prepped.

  • 9. Manufactured to QS-9000 standards, the Motown II is made from high-density cast iron and accepts all OEM parts.

  • 10. Street or Race blocks supplied with bore sizes of 3.990 or 4.115 inches. Prepped to 4.000 or 4.125 inches. Can be safely bored to 4.200 inches.

  • 11. Prepped blocks are decked, plate-honed, de-burred, hot-tanked, and supplied with freeze plugs, cam bearings and dowel pins installed.Additionally they are painted inside and out, with machined surfaces protected against rust.

  • 12. World Products Street Engines have a 2 year/24,000-mile limited warranty
